College Consensus, a leading authority in university and business school rankings, has unveiled its 2025 list of the most affordable online MBA programs. This annual ranking highlights the nation’s most cost-effective options for students seeking an AACSB-accredited business education without the financial strain of exorbitant tuition fees.
Of the 10 most affordable online MBA options, all are located in the South, including five in the state of Texas. At the top of the list is Midwestern State University, praised for its robust curriculum that integrates essential business disciplines with real-world applications and a base tuition under $6,500.
Close behind are Angelo State University and Nicholls State University, each recognized for their commitment to affordability at around $7,000 while maintaining a high standard of academic excellence. Read more below from College Consensus for the complete list.
- Midwestern State University
Coming in at #1 is Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Through the Dillard College of Business Administration, the university offers a business MBA consisting of 33 hours of non-thesis curriculum and case studies focused on accounting, business analytics, business administration and energy management. While many of the program’s students complete their degree in a hybrid format, the degree can be done completely remotely. The entirety of the program can be completed in under two years at a total tuition cost of $6,464.70.
- Angelo State University
Located in San Angelo, Texas, Angelo State University offers MBA programs in business and health care management. The business curriculum emphasizes the global perspective on finance, economics and business, while the health care program studies the ins and outs of health care administration and its related fields. Prioritizing flexibility and affordability, Angelo State MBAs are offered 100% virtually and are generally completed in a single year. Students will spend a total of about $6,969 for their education.
- Nicholls State University
The most affordable school outside of Texas is Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisianna. Along with its affordability at $7,107, the university’s MBA was awarded as one of the country’s top 50 graduate programs focusing on careers in operations, effective communication and leadership, financial analysis, marketing and real-world application. NSU offers classes online, in hybrid settings and in the evenings to fit your schedule and can be completed in 18 months.
- Georgia Southwestern State University
Georgia Southwestern State University offers an online MBA that educates its students on everything they need to know about management, finance, marketing, ethics and international business. As of 2024, the MBA from GSW had a total cost of $7,890 for the 18-month long program.
- Tarleton State University
Coming back to Texas, Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas offers the fifth most affordable MBA in the United States. Through their College of Business, students gain a vast knowledge on leading today’s job market through classes on finance, marketing and human resources. The MBA can be completed in as little as a year, with students able to choose the length of their courses. The MBA ranks in the top five most affordable at about $8,043 in total.
- Fayetteville State University
At Fayetteville State’s Broadwell College of Business and Economics in North Carolina, students can earn their online MBA in an affordable, timely and vastly educational manner. The program is 36 credits long and offers 12 specializations depending on your unique interests. The program can last anywhere between one and three years at around $8,064 total.
- University of Texas Permian Basin
The University of Texas Permian Basin offers five unique online MBAs through their College of Business. Students can earn a general business MBA or choose an emphasis in accounting, finance, marketing or energy business. Students can complete their degree at their own pace, but it can be done in the course of twelve months if preferred. All programs are at a total cost of about $8,246.
- Southeastern Louisiana University
Boasting a technology-focused curriculum and an experienced staff, Southwestern Louisiana University has a completely virtual MBA program where students will learn the tools of the trade in accounting, economics, finance, marketing and cybersecurity. This MBA also takes around a year to complete at an average total cost of $8,580.
- West Texas A&M University
Offered in an online and hybrid setting, West Texas A&M University’s MBA program offers four concentrations at an affordable price: computer information systems, marketing management, health care management and procurement management. WT not only allows their students to finish their degree at their own pace, but is also considered among the top 10% of business schools on a global scale. MBAs are typically earned in two years at around $8,760.
- Arkansas Tech University
Rounding out our list is Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. Their MBA program offers three unique studies in general business, digital marketing and business data analytics. Each are designed to be completed in the midst of busy schedules and lifestyles. Though it is an online program, Arkansas Tech ensures that all of their MBA students are successful by pairing them with an academic advisor who helps them create individualized study plans. The two-year program totals at about $9,435.
